A Bee in Your Bonnet

A couple years ago I took up the "Ray Bradbury Challenge" to write a short story a week for a year, on the strength of his assertion that it's impossible to write fifty-two bad short stories. He was right, I think.

It's my pleasure to announce that I have selected twenty-two stories for inclusion in a book I will be self-publishing through CreateSpace on Amazon. When it comes out, you'll be able to buy it online, or request it through a number of major bookstores (including Barnes and Noble).

I still have to thoroughly re-edit the stories I've chosen, and to wait (for copyright purposes) until I've heard back from a number of literary journals. It will also take a while, once that's all in, to work with CreateSpace to ensure I have a snappy, quality piece of writing to put out there for y'all. But I've spent the past several days arranging the collection and designing a cover, and I'm confident you're going to enjoy it.

The book will be entitled:

IMMORTALITY
and   other   short   stories

I plan to keep the price as low as possible, so hopefully you'll be able to buy copies for friends, enemies, and all those people in that gray, middle area (like, say, most of your Facebook friends, and pretty much everybody who's ever filed a restraining order against you).

I will update you on my progress as soon as it makes sense to do so.

  2. Thanks, man. Although... the barrier to entry with self-publishing couldn't be any lower :)

  3. It's not the publishing part that inspires me, it's the creative work and the commitment you show to the art.

  4. One of the best lessons I sortof/kindof learned in my years of treeplanting was that there would always be someone a bit more talented than me, but that if I was willing, there was no one who could out-work me... which is a good to have, because looking back over some of these stories, I'm realizing that they need a LOT of work.
