scratches from the past

Some of my students have been thumbing through old sketchbooks of mine, from back in the days before I got so obsessed with writing that I stopped taking nearly enough time for pictures. I started to wonder what it was they were looking at, and upon inspection decided that there were some bits and pieces in there that were sort of interesting. So I think I'm going to start adding a few at a time to my picasa art album. A lot of these old sketches give insight into my process for some of my paintings, and they all tend to show what a sick, sick headcase I really am. Here are a couple of the first ones I scanned. 1. I remember the first time I saw your 'remake' of young man and the guitar picture on barkingreed? I think it was. You told the story of how the young man is chained to his instrument, Chris from an excellent band I think it was, and how as he got older there was no longer the need for chains due to his dependence for the guitar grew. Excellent memories

  2. Hey, Mat.

Good to hear from you after all this time. Yeah. I think I was still a little in awe of Chris when I got him to pose for some source pics. Maybe I still am.
