casual

This morning,
leaning hard into prevailing wind,
I say this:

that you cannot help but play with someone's heart
when first you start to play with their heart's tenement.

We are not a smattering of parts, you see, but whole.

And if you choose,
like ancient Jews,
to seat emotions in the bowels...
well, I've got news for you, my friend:
in those coiled viscera runs, too, the blood that flows beneath our human skin -
that surges also through the mind and all throughout this mortal soil.

So be aware, when e're you seek to touch another's skin,
beware, and know
that heart and flesh and bone are but a part of something greater
that gets caught up in the motion,
and gets in.
