Often I occasionally hear it characterized as "only for show" or "unauthentic." If that is true is still better than everyone simply, by definition, being unfriendly.robsharpehttp://robsharpe.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3943366568013445284.post-65828345350053849862009-10-14T08:04:04.945-07:002009-10-14T08:04:04.945-07:00Liberals, in Canada, anyway...are those folks that...Liberals, in Canada, anyway...are those folks that base their opinion on what is the latest pole swayed "gawd's own truth" to be. They do not stand up for what they believe is right/wrong; everything is relative. They smoke pot with the pot smokers, or cry humanitarian rights with the native Americans if that is the issue of the day. Having said that, I am a born and cultured Liberal. I make sure that I don't just sway to public opinion and gets fed the next politically correct party line. There is a danger that one can become so relatively minded that one's core is lost. The South, and conservatisms can often lose compassion for the person. Let's never lose compassion for the world or become too wishy washy to be of any earthly good to anyone.
aAnniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01657346898235911218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3943366568013445284.post-85776028819200102892009-10-14T20:34:31.060-07:002009-10-14T20:34:31.060-07:00hmmm...I have to agree with the comments. I do not know what it is. Like I said, I would most likely be considered a liberal by most conservatives. I resist any labels as rigorously as I can, but there it is - I am definitely one of those who is none to friendly to strangers. I have to force myself to do it and it always feels, well... forced.

"Reed" Herring says I've got my terms crossed, but I'm not trying to define terms, only to point out an awkward realization I've come to - one that embarrasses me, 'cause it makes me feel like a jerk.Josh Barkeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02056229250824359708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3943366568013445284.post-5493572639680000042009-10-16T04:36:20.069-07:002009-10-16T04:36:20.069-07:00Perhaps even the southern liberals tend to be on t...Perhaps even the southern liberals tend to be on the friendly side.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3943366568013445284.post-64409090492920215632009-10-16T06:45:45.563-07:002009-10-16T06:45:45.563-07:00Might be, Anonymous person... might just be. I honestly believe there is an inverse relationship between friendliness on the surface vs. how well someone will eventually let you get to know them.

I also disagree with Annie's comment above. Liberalism and relativism are not synonymous. When it comes to social issues I consider myself on the liberal side, but that is based on deeply held convictions of what is right and wrong and doesn't change with the wind. I also don't smoke pot.

AlastairAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
